The town of Neuhengstett was founded around 1700 by the Waldensians. The church in the center also has its origins with the Waldensians. However, a small wooden church was first built in 1702, which was replaced by a stone building 17 years later. Finally, in 1769, the current church was completed after just five months of construction and was inaugurated on October 27, 1769. The church was last renovated in 1991/92. Today the church is part of the Waldensian Park.
