A word of explanation about the otherwise very beautiful nature reserve De Dorpsbemden. In the words of the website of the municipality of Diepenbeek: "The Dorpsbemden (60 ha) extends east of the Stationsstraat between the fish pond De Pomperik and the Demer. The Dorpsbemden originated from the former communal grazing grounds. until summer, you can enjoy exceptional floral splendor thanks to the varied meadows. After all, the area contains blue grasslands, marigold grasslands, glossy oat haylands and heathland grasslands, each with its own typical flower variation. Because various rare plants occur in the area, hikers must to stay." I couldn't say it better.
