Typical Egerland half-timbered house. The half-timbering of the region is characterized by a peculiar, lavish diamond pattern that leaves little space in between. While in the case of Franconian half-timbering, the whole building usually consists of half-timbering or a half-timbered gable is placed on a brick ground floor, the substructure of the Egerland half-timbered house was mostly built in block construction. It was probably the same carpenters who created these half-timbered structures on both sides of the Bavarian-Bohemian border.
