Kufstein's old town offers many beautiful views and sights. The impressive alleys and squares of Kufstein's old town are wedged between the mountains and the Inn. Karl Ganzer sang about this beauty in his 1947 Kufstein song. He coined the term Pearl of Tyrol. The city center extends at the foot of the Kaisergebirge up to the Festungsberg with the famous Kufstein Fortress

Documents in the city archive show that the Marienbrunnen, which was made in the neo-Gothic style, together with a second octagonal iron fountain (also on the Unterer Stadtplatz, in front of the Countess) in the autumn of 1861 by the k.k. Ironworks administration in Jenbach and set up by the Kufstein blacksmith Josef Lener.
The oldest photo of the Marienbrunnen is from 1869 and shows it with a beautifully structured finial at the top. If you follow the old recordings over the years, you can see that this tip was lost around 1924 - which is why it is not recognizable (lightning strike? mechanical damage?) - and was then soon replaced by a very simple tin tip that was attached. This condition has persisted to this day, i.e. for more than 90 years.
