The sculpture, which the sculptor Paul Mersmann designed in 1934, is reminiscent of the legend of the Bright Helle and depicts a bull.

According to Berliner vernacular, the “biggest ox in Berlin” is nine meters long and seven meters high. The monument is made of 3,000 irregularly square shell limestones from the Rüdersdorf limestone quarry over an inner brick core. The stones of the core are said to come from the Prussian Ministry of War, the brick building that preceded the Reich Ministry of Aviation. Between 2003 and 2005, a €130,000 renovation was carried out, during which the restorer had to work on almost every limestone individually. In the spring of 2005, in the presence of the artist Paul Mersmann's son and other relatives, the state curator presented the renovated monument to the public.
