"Victoria-Luise-Platz is located in the middle of a residential area, the Bavarian Quarter, and is an outstanding example of a decorative garden square from the late 19th century. In order to increase the residential value of the district, a competition was announced in 1898, which Fritz Encke won. The layout of the hexagonal square is determined by the streets that radiate out towards the square and continue as wide paths. The center of the square is emphasized by a fountain surrounded by a circular path. Between the paths are smaller lawn segments that are framed by low railings, the so-called Tiergarten railings. The lawns are equipped with decorative beds, trimmed box hedges and columnar and spherical yew trees. The longitudinal axis of the square is emphasized by a monumental colonnade with a wall fountain and seating, as well as a semicircular marble bench opposite, which today is only indicated in a simple form."
