The parish church of St. Verena in Roggenbeuren is located on the extreme point of a mountain spur on the northern slope of the Gehrenberg, possibly on the site of a medieval castle. It forms an ensemble that can be seen from afar with the vicarage built around 1700 at its feet.

enlarge ... The parish church of St. Verena in Roggenbeuren is situated on the extreme point of a mountain spur on the north slope of the Gehrenberg, possibly on the site of a medieval castle. It forms an ensemble that can be seen from afar with the vicarage built around 1700 at its feet.
The single-aisled, late Gothic building from 1514 with a Romanesque choir side tower in the basement probably had a previous building, as the parish of St. Verena was mentioned in a Constance tax register as early as 1241.
The last consecration date of the side altars, 1662, suggests that the Thirty Years' War also left its mark on this church.
