Before the Maschsee was built, a railway line ran over to Altenbekener Damm. With the construction of the lake, the railway line was moved south.
The old bridge now bears the name Helene~Weber~Brücke.

The Helene Weber Bridge is a listed former railway bridge over the Ihme in Hanover in Lower Saxony, which is now used as a foot and cycle bridge.

The disused railway line was converted into a road from 1909. In 1912 it was officially given the name Altenbekener Damm. The western part separated by the construction of the Maschsee has been called Ohedamm since 1962.

The bridge over the Ihme was named in 1994 after the CDU member of the Bundestag, Helene Weber, who died in 1962.

A great thing when an old bridge like this one can continue to be used and preserved in a meaningful way.
