  • The old town hall in the city center occupies a special position in this medieval environment with colorful half-timbered houses, because the painstakingly restored building presents itself to the visitor as a massive stone building with its facade paintings.
With construction beginning around 1300, the old town hall is one of the oldest preserved buildings in the city of Celle. The structural version in which it is presented to today's visitor dates from different eras. The richly decorated north wing with the Ratskeller dates from the 16th or 17th century, the much simpler south wing from the late 18th century.
