Location: On "Dippoldiswalder Straße", junction "Postweg".
Size / Material:
History: Stone pillar, the "Welsche Marter". In the oldest town books of Pirna, there are several mentions of a "French torture" near Pirna. From the location descriptions given in the documents, it can be inferred that the torture must be identical to a stone pillar that stands at the junction of the postal route with Dippoldiswalder Strasse. The earlier assumption by Kuhfahl (1928) that "Welsche Marter" meant the stone pillar on the Elbe near the mouth of Gottleuba (Tetzel pillar) proves to be incorrect.
