The five thousand year old bridge "Voltoni" characterizes the city with its tonal arches. Much earlier than Dante, Plino il Vecchio (23 79 AD) quoted Peschiera in a poem telling of eel fishing.

There is a great place for a break at the end of the bridge on the bike path.

The construction of the Peschiera del Garda railway bridge began in 1841 at the behest of the Austrian government, with a dual purpose: military and civil. It was inaugurated in 1854, at a time when the railway represented a revolutionary innovation. The bridge fit perfectly into Peschiera's defensive structures, as the town was a fortress of great strategic value. It is no coincidence that the doors of Peschiera del Garda's railway station were opened that year. However, the course of history was not kind to the bridge, which was badly damaged by bombing during the Second World War. It was then rebuilt and today you can admire its seven brick bay windows, witnesses of a reconstruction that has preserved its original shape.
