"The Nuns' Tower is, alongside the Lorenken Tower and the Lüdinghauser Gate, one of three preserved parts of the city fortifications of Dülmen. The tower with a square floor plan is located near the Lüdinghauser Gate and still shows remains of the Dülmen city wall on its side. The nuns' tower is the last of the three square towers of the old fortifications. The tower, which is now four stories high, dates from the 16th century and was originally used as a powder tower. The city fortifications gradually fell into disrepair in the middle of the 17th century. The tower became private property in 1730 and changed owners several times.

In 1953 the tower was rebuilt in a modified form. Two small remaining pieces of the city wall are attached to its sides. The interior of the tower is now part of an apartment. The Nuns' Tower was last renovated in 1982.

The name of the tower refers to the nearby and now closed Augustinian nunnery called Agnetenberg, whose most famous member was Anna Katharina Emmerick was. "
