The iron footbridge over Debdon Burn was manufactured in 1870s at Lord Armstrong's Elswick Works. The footbridge was closed to the public in 1979, after being declared structurally unsafe. It was reopened in 2009 after over 4,000 rivets were replaced. Although it is called the Iron Bridge it is made of steel and one of the first of its types in the country. The footbridge is Grade II listed.
