Great cafe in the village check winter opening hours I think they’ll be shut Monday and Tuesday . Excellent coffee cakes and food

Whitby . Abbey to the lighthouse and a short wander around town
Great for views , wild wind today . We parked at the Abbey which cost us £10.80 !!! There are alternatives in town which I’m sure would be cheaper.

Praia da Luz to Salema
Walking west over headlands from Luz to Burgau then onto Praia da Almandena and finally Salema. Generally following the Rota Vincentina. The limestone is the perfect habitat for spring flowers and the estuary for birds. A linear walk .. we parked at Salema and caught an Uber to Luz then…

Brilliant. Great memories from earlier this year. Looks like the small river at the south end of Bordeira beach is sanded up. That was a waist high wade across in April 🤷🏻

A wander around Silves
Silves a historic city and the main axis of Moorish power in the 9th century. The castle claims to be the largest on the Algarve. Set high above a maze of old streets cascading down to the river it’s well worth a visit

Monchique valley and town walk
An easy walk in the Monchique hills winding down and along a beautiful valley through terraced and cork oak woods . A wander through true rural Portugal before exploring the town of Monchique . Plenty of opportunities for good and drink in town . Free parking .

Staithes to Port Mulgrave loop
The steps down to the beach at Port Mulgrave have been replaced and make the descent and ascent so much easier..

North Shields to Cullercoats return by train
An excellent adventure … we parked for free in South Shields and caught the ferry across the Tyne . Followed the ECP through Tynemouth to Cullercoats then hopped on the Metro back to North Shields
