    Hiking

One of the Palatinate Forest Association's more than 300 knight's stones is located here.
He points out the “Eichenkranz” (or “Kranzeichen”) forest section with beautiful, very old oak trees.
For Ritterstein fans: "The stone provided by the forestry administration was [later] included in the Ritterstein network as a landmark for hikers." Therefore, the typical Ritterstein abbreviation “PWV” is missing.
Source (partly quoted verbatim): Walter Eitelmann in "Rittersteine im Pfälzerwald", self-published by the Palatinate Forest Association, Neustadt/Wstr.

This knight's stone of the PWV stands in the Kranzeichen biotope protection forest.
It marks the place where oaks used to stand in a circle or "in a wreath".
Hence the name oak wreath on the stone.

The list of the knight stones contains all known knight stones of the Palatine Forest Association e. V. (PWV) in the Palatinate Forest (Rhineland-Palatinate).

In 1908, the PWV began under his founding chairman Karl Albrecht von Ritter (1836-1917), who significantly promoted the project to build at notable locations in the Palatinate Forest road signs and placemarks made of sandstone. For this purpose, partially stone blocks were set up, partly also used locally existing rocks or walls. In addition to the carved text is found - with exceptions - at each knight stone the abbreviation PWV for the Palatine Forest Association.
