Wonderful view over the Benrath castle pond to Benrath's church tower St. Cecilia, of course the castle, the water fountain and the island in the castle pond with exactly two trees, a weeping willow and a poplar. The planting of the island is based on the historical model from the 19th century. Both trees were replanted after the Pentecost storm "Ela" in 2014.

An original castle of the "Lords of Benroide", about which no precise information has been handed down, was taken over by the Counts of Berg towards the end of the 12th century. It is also not known whether this castle was already a moated castle or whether the "Berger" first rebuilt it. The temporary presence of the earls and later dukes in a castle in Royde is documented by documents from the 13th century. Later, from the beginning of the 16th century, it was pledged by the dukes a number of times, but was redeemed again and again.
