Approximately 5 km south-east of Forst (Lausitz), directly on the Neisse, is the "Hispe" nature reserve. It covers an area of approx. 10 ha with the remains of the former Neisse floodplain forest and stocks of a pedunculate oak and hornbeam forest. With willows, black poplar floodplains, wet meadows and reed communities, the Hispe is the habitat of endangered animal species and serves as a breeding and feeding area for water, raptor and songbird species.
