The Aaper Forest, part of the Düsseldorf city forest in the northeast of the city, was a royal protected forest in the Middle Ages. It was part of a large forest area that stretched between the Ruhr and the Düssel. Today it is a beautiful local recreation area with great paths and lots of greenery.
