The dam Cranzahl is a dam in the Free State of Saxony. It was built in 1949-1952 at Sehmatal-Cranzahl and Bärenstein in the Erzgebirge for drinking water supply of Annaberg-Buchholz and the surrounding area. It was next to the dam Sosa one of the two major dam construction projects of the young GDR. According to the zeitgeist of the time, it was named "Dam of Friendship".
