Guzmán el Bueno (nickname of Alonso Pérez de Guzmán, León, January 24, 1256 - Gaucín, September 19, 1309), first lord of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, was a military and nobleman from León, founder of the House of Medina Sidonia, composed of his male offspring exists.

The central part of the square presents a garden with a wide fountain with water jets and small waterfalls. In the center of the fountain is a pedestal on which stands the statue of Guzmán el Bueno, a bronze sculpture placed in 1894, the work of the sculptor Aniceto Marinas.
