The history of the promenade goes back to 1885. In that year, Binz was recognized as an official seaside resort and construction of the beach promenade began. The promenade is separated from the fine sandy beach of the Baltic Sea by a coastal protection strip, then as now. The promenade was reconstructed in the 1990s and extended to 3.2 kilometers. In 2010 and 2011, the promenade was made wider in some places and supplemented with additional benches. The numerous beach exits were also renovated, as they had become outdated.
