    The Castillo de San Miguel is a former fortress of Garachico and is located directly above the natural pools of El Caletón. It was built in 1575 and destroyed by a devastating fire in 1697, after which the fortress was rebuilt.

    The three coats of arms that can be assigned to the Spanish crown, Tenerife and an important noble family for the fortress catch the eye above the portal. Until 1876, the fortress was the seat of the artillery department of the city militia.

    In 1999, the Castillo de San Miguel was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and classified as a Monument.
