The natural pools "El Caletón" are a flagship of the small coastal town.
The natural pools were formed as a result of the great volcanic eruption, when the liquid lava cooled, solidified and has remained on the shore zone to this day. The solidified lava flows formed a narrow, elongated bay that forms a natural pool.
The city of Garachico recognized the added value of this natural bathing opportunity and set up other natural pools in and around this bay, separated from the open sea but nevertheless integrated naturally into these solidified lava flows.
