When the Thirty Years' War finally came to an end in 1648, the pilgrimage to Kappl blossomed again within a short time, so that the little pilgrimage church that had just been built turned out to be too small. Pastor Paul Eckhart (pastor of Münchenreuth from 1670 to 1698) therefore decided to build a new church on the same spot and created the present-day appearance.
