The Winterberg Memorial was a war memorial on the Winterberg in Saarbrücken. Built on an artificial hill, the 30 meter high tower monument with a surrounding foyer commemorated Prussia's victory at the Battle of Spichern on August 6, 1870. Today only the reconstructed base with stairs, which is a listed building, has been preserved. The name Winterberg itself is a corruption of Wingert-Berg, since wine was grown here.

The tower was built between 1872 and 1874 and inaugurated in August 1874. For many decades, the tower was a highly visible landmark of Saarbrücken. In the 1920s, the tower was stylized as a national symbol. And if you're wondering why the tower is no longer standing:
In September 1939, the tower was blown up by the German Wehrmacht so that the enemy artillery would not have any orientation points.
