The Royal Bridge House was built in 1635, together with a bascule bridge that could be used to cross the harbor. The bridge connected the royal gardens on the Rethövel with the royal palace in the city. The bridge keeper lived in the small, two-story half-timbered building of the bridge house with a clearly overhanging upper floor. Around 1890, the bridge was demolished and the bridge keeper's house sold. It is now privately owned.

The royal bridge house

Built around 1635 together with the royal bascule bridge over the harbor. The bridge served to connect Rethövel to the city, and also provided a connection between the royal castle "Glücksburg" and the royal garden.
