The Augustaschacht memorial is located on the site of the former Ohrbeck labor education camp and commemorates the victims and the times of National Socialism in the Osnabrück region. The listed former warehouse building, the Augustaschacht, is evidence of the most serious crimes. This history, which is unique in the Osnabrück region, and its stone traces make it easier to get closer to the life and actions of people under National Socialism in a special way.
Those who want to find out more can explore the exhibitions independently or choose a guided tour. Many names and places will be familiar to regional and European visitors. Other insights will surprise guests or spark new questions about the causes and aftermath of history.
Those who want to remember can visit the historical site or experience the view of German and Dutch artists on war and oppression in the past and present through various works of art. The listed former warehouse building, the Augustaschacht, is one of the few examples of this type of warehouse. Former storage rooms and the preserved storage stairs can be viewed during opening hours. The former roll call area of the camp, a bunker and the foundation walls of the latrines are accessible at all times.

The Ohrbeck labor education camp (AZ) in Hasbergen-Ohrbeck was located in the old pumping station of the Augustaschacht Ohrbeck, a mine for ore extraction. It was set up as a labor education camp by the Osnabrück Gestapo in early 1944. Today it is a memorial to commemorate the labor education camp in the time of National Socialism. The memorial, inaugurated on January 27, 1998, houses a permanent exhibition about forced labor in the Osnabrück region and shows changing special exhibitions, for example about prisoners of war on the Piesberg or about the end of the war in 1945 in the region.
