As a tributary of the Hase, the 35 km long Düte, coming from Bad Iburg, runs here in its natural course along Hellern, from where the river continues north. Only at Wersen-Halen does the Düte flow into the Hase. Because of the nocturnal bullhead (fish) that occurs here, the Düte is under protection according to FFH guidelines.
