You can reach the Bitschweil reservoir via the Aquaweg from the Latschau reservoir or via the Aquastiege. The Gasthaus Bitschweil is very close by and is ideal for a stop.

Mountain biking

The Bitschweil reservoir (also known as the Gampadels storage pond) is approximately 170 m long and measures about 45 m at its widest point. It now holds approximately 32,000 m3 and is located at 1076.5 m. The water reaches the powerhouse of the lower stage near Tschagguns via a penstock from the Gampadels upper stage power plant, where it is processed by three further turbine sets and then flows into the Ill river. The energy is fed into the grid via the Tschagguns substation.

Not a lake in the true sense of the word, but more of a tranquil thought made of concrete and water, cast between mountain and meadow, high above Tschagguns. You come up via the Aquawäg or the Aquastiege, panting, silent, looking – and then suddenly you're standing there, as if someone had invented the word "peace" and inserted it there.
