Around 100 years ago, when it was completely bare, the 439m high panoramic hill offered a wide panorama. At the turn of the century, a well was first built on the hill. This was the beginning of the excursion restaurant "Panoramahöhe". The panoramic height first became known when the secret councilor of commerce Carl Eschebach, owner of the Friedrichstal Castle, had the 26m high granite observation tower built in 1900.
