Wladimir Kaminer calls the Junkerhaus the 'carving house of love'. According to legend, the wife of the landlord ran away. To process this loss, he spent the rest of his life carving on his house. Wood dominates inside and out, the ceilings and walls are wood-panelled. The furniture is also hand-carved - from wood. The result is a total work of art, a house covered with 'carved architecture'.
