The castle is located on the approximately 3ha large Lower Lake, in a line of sight with Johannisburg Castle. From there, the Kleine Schönbuschallee was laid out as a promenade and it still connects the city center of Aschaffenburg over the Willigis Bridge with Schönbusch Palace. It is lined with linden and locust trees.
