Hiking

The so-called Tranchot Pyramid, probably from the year 1810, is located immediately behind the "Baltia Hill" (to the right of the path). The first order survey point is labeled "BOTRANCHE A TRANCHOT" (note the modern spelling: "Botrange"). Jean Joseph Tranchot (1752 - 1815) was a French geographer who, on Napoleon's orders, carried out the "Topographical Survey of the Rhineland" between 1801 - 1815.
