The Koldinger Seen are part of a nature reserve and next to the Steinhuder Meer the most important bird resting area in the Hanover region. You have a good overview from the observation tower.

The Koldingen lakes have developed into an important breeding, resting and wintering area for the bird life. To date, over 240 different bird species have been identified here. This makes the nature reserve between Koldingen and Ruthe one of the most attractive places for bird watching in the Hanover region alongside the Steinhuder Meer. To keep it that way, the animals must not be disturbed or startled and the riparian zones must not be entered. Breeding and migratory birds can be observed from good cover from the observation tower that the Hanover region has erected on the western shore of the Great Koldinger See. Source: Hannover.de
