Some houses also serve as restaurants or cafes; time seems to stand still in them. The village lime tree in the bakery aisle has been the center of Born since the 17th century. Captain Carl von Petersson built the first hotel on the Darß here in 1833, the Peterssons Hof, which is still preserved today.
