The Hirschberg forepeak is not adorned with a summit cross, but with a memorial to the sports brothers Basti and Tobi Haag from Grünwald. The latter fell off a cornice in the Mont Blanc area in 2006, and his brother Basti was hit by an avalanche in the Himalayas in 2014. Both were passionate mountaineers who liked to train in the Tegernsee Valley. Basti climbed the Hirschberg up to six times a day in preparation for his Himalayan expedition.
