The Liebethaler Grund is located near the small town of Liebethal, which belongs to the large district town of Pirna. A wild, romantic hiking trail runs through the valley along the Wesenitz river. The famous hiking route "Malerweg" also begins in the Liebethaler Grund, which runs from here through the entire Saxon Switzerland. The largest Richard Wagner monument in the world has been located near the former hydroelectric power station since May 21, 1933. The bronze statue, which is over four meters high, depicts Wagner as the guardian of the Grail and was designed by the Dresden painter and sculptor Richard Guhr.
