The Voßnacker brickworks was built in 1899 in order to use the local clay deposits for brick production. Today there are still three brickworks buildings and the 53 meter high chimney. The listed brickworks is the last remaining brickworks from the 19th century in Essen.

      Voßnacker brickworks on Deilbach

Voßnacker Steinbrecher und Ringofenziegelei GmbH was an Essen company in the Deilbachtal. Until the end of the 19th century it was purely a quarry operation. The brickworks was founded in 1899. In 1907 there was a fire. Clay from the local clay and siltstone layers was used to make the bricks. It was obtained from the Voßnack quarries immediately to the south. The brick kiln worked on the principle of the Hoffmann ring kiln. The operation ended before the Second World War. Other companies then produced foundry mold dust here. The machine house is no longer preserved. The kiln building with the 53 m long chimney still exists, but is in serious disrepair. The location is now a showcase for the Deilbachtal museum landscape. The building is a historical monument.

Lost places: The old brickworks at Vossnacker am Deilbach, with its high chimney visible from afar, is one of these testimonies to an economic past that has been left to decay. Despite the fat fence, there are interesting photo opportunities.
