    St. Gertrude (Morsbach)

The Roman Catholic Church of St. Gertrud is a Romanesque gallery basilica in the municipality of Morsbach in the Oberberg district in North Rhine-Westphalia on the border with Rhineland-Palatinate. It belongs to the parish community Morsbach - Friesenhagen - Wildbergerhütte.

The parish church of St. Gertrud is the oldest building in the municipality of Morsbach. A first chapel was probably built around 895 by missionaries from the Bonn Cassius Monastery on a rocky hilltop. In 1131, Pope Innocent II confirmed the Bonn Cassius-Stift's ownership rights to the church.

Very nice church in Morsbach. Unfortunately, there was a funeral going on, so I didn't want to disturb it.
