The bunkers were part of a large-scale fortification on the North Sea coast that was built between 1942 and 1944, with the aim of holding back the Allied invasion. The fortification was specifically aimed at the strategic locations of Walcheren and Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, located at the mouth of the Weserschelde, gateway to the port of Antwerp.

This bunker can be viewed from the inside every Wednesday and Sunday between 2 and 5 PM.
