    The kingdom

The artwork 'Kingdom' is about a fictional world in which animals lead a carefree life. The entire mural depicts a typical day in the imaginative life of the local fauna and flora from the abbey site.

The fantasy of the committed local residents was included in this design and provides a playful, playful and surreal side: frogs sail on a leaf over the pond, a fox dares with its curious snout in the shallow water, a hare flies along on the neck of a swan, a frog goes on a picnic with his hedgehog friends, ...
Many of these cool ideas have been incorporated into the artwork in order to fill the tunnel in its entirety. Every passing spectator is briefly immersed in the kingdom of the Abbey through this mural, so the power here lies mainly in the immersion that the artwork produces. For example, when you walk through the tunnels, you find yourself under water. However, when you step out of the tunnels into the park, you see the world on land and above water. Every passer-by will briefly experience a kind of positive escapism and be taken into a different reality. That way, people will enter or leave the park with a smile.

A very classic and accessible visual style was chosen that could be applied in a children's book about the animal kingdom of the Abbey. It is about the totality of the work: everything is clearly legible at a glance, both from afar and up close. It is about wonder, discovery and immersion.

One of the currently three large murals around Park Abbey! View all three at abdijvanpark.be/street-art

About this one: "Anyone who walks all the way around the ponds will come face to face with the magical street art of the artist collective Treepack at the railway bridge with the Hoegaardsestraat. In a style reminiscent of fairy tales, you walk along the fauna and flora of the Park Abbey ponds. More than 100 local residents worked on this participatory street art project."
