    The Dschavri Monastery (Georgian: ჯვრის მონასტერი, English Jvari Monastery, German Kreuzkloster) is one of the most important buildings of the Georgian Orthodox Church. At the same time, the Dzhwari Monastery is one of the most important tourist highlights in Georgia. Finally, the exposed location of the Jvari Monastery on a mountain spur above the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers above the former capital of the Kingdom of Iberia, Mtskheta, means that this monastery is one of the most popular photo opportunities in Georgia.

    The importance of the Dshawri Monastery for Georgia is also underlined by the fact that, together with other buildings in Mtskheta, it has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994.

    The first buildings of the Javri Monastery were built in the year 545. The church is considered an architectural template for many other church buildings in Georgia.
