These historical kilometer stones are placed every ten thousand meters to the right and left of the Rhine between Basel and Rotterdam.
After the straightening of the Upper Rhine by Gottfried Tulla, a complete survey of the Rhine stream was carried out. In 1867, it was decided to erect marking stones, so-called myriameter stones, to mark the survey results.
