In the Middle Ages, this path was used by churchgoers from the village of De Haar (today's Haarzuilens) to go to the church.
That's how it got the name Kerkepad.
After the Reformation, the Catholic inhabitants had to move to the hidden church 't Hoog, which was then just behind Den Ham castle.
Natuurmonumenten has recently restored this church path and now it is a beautiful walking path through the meadows and fields with various historical explanations and mementos of the past.
