The Vilicher Bach originates from three source streams in Holtorf, namely an unnamed one from Niederholtorf, the Wielesbach from Ungarten and the Mersbach on the border between Holtorf and Hoholz, and initially flows northwards on the border between Holtorf and Holzlar and there, since 1975, into a flood retention basin called Holzlarer See.
