The collegiate church built around 974 is the oldest church in Aschaffenburg. For the 1000th anniversary in 1958, Pope Pius XII. the church for the Basilica minor. The church has significant art treasures and furnishings. Of particular note are "The Lamentation of Christ", Matthias Grünewald's last work, the larger-than-life wooden crucifix (10th century) and the late Romanesque cloister. 😀
