The water turn, a landmark of Wüstfeld that can be seen from afar, was built in 1932 after many years of planning for the purpose of a central and hygienically perfect water supply. It replaced the tedious and time-consuming pumping of water from deep wells.
The tower is 22 meters high, its water basin has a volume of 63 square meters. The water was electrically pumped from the spring below the tower into the tower basin. If necessary, it was fed into the local network via a downpipe. In 1983 the water tower was shut down and Wüstfeld was connected to the Schenklengsfeld municipal loop.
For its 75th anniversary in 2007, the water tower was renovated on the roof and facade with the active support of the citizens of Wüstfeld.
