The Sophienhöhe, which was created from overburden of the Hambach opencast mine, is the highest artificial elevation in Germany. The height of the dome is 301.8 m above sea level. NN. The artificial pile is thus about 218 m. The difference in height to the lowest point in the neighboring open pit covers approx. 595 m.

Vladi, yes, I only meant the last part 😉 Because of the stones and slope. Otherwise, the ramps to the Sophienhöhe are at the very beginning but not without the incline and the lack of grip. Definitely worth going up there!
