Border controls when entering Austria and blocking of border crossings
The Austrian government has decided to introduce border controls when entering Liechtenstein to prevent or slow down the further spread of the coronavirus. According to information from the Austrian security authorities, entry into Austria will only be permitted under certain conditions from Tuesday, March 17th. So is
unrestricted entry and exit for non-Austrian commuters and cross-border commuters from and to Liechtenstein possible. Commuters must carry an identity card and the Liechtenstein cross-border commuter registration confirmation. Likewise, entries for the purpose of pure transit to Germany or another country are permitted. People who have a medical certificate that is not older than four days and confirms that there is no coronavirus infection can also enter the country.
From Wednesday, March 18, 2020, 00:00 a.m., the border crossings in Mauren and Schellenberg will also be closed to all border crossings. The border crossings in Schaanwald and Ruggell will remain open for passenger and freight traffic. Border crossings to Austria for shopping or for leisure reasons are therefore no longer possible

Restrictions on public transport to and from Austria
Due to the measures announced by Austria, there are numerous changes in bus and train traffic in Vorarlberg and across the borders. From Monday, March 16, 2020, all train and bus connections between Vorarlberg and Liechtenstein will be discontinued. This means that the lines always go to the border stop and in the neighboring country also from the border stop. Crossing the border on foot will be guaranteed where possible. Lines 11 and 14 of the LIEmobil run between Feldkirch train station and the Tisis Töbeleweg border stop and from the Schaanwald customs office in the direction of Schaan. Line 13 is dropped between Feldkirch train station and Tisis Töbeleweg. The border crossing is therefore only possible on foot. Line 36E will be discontinued on the Austrian section. The buses run from the Ruggell border in the direction of Schaan. The government will provide information on the current situation at a media briefing tomorrow, Monday, March 16 at 4:00 p.m. Media inquiries will not be answered until then.
