Beautiful high valley. You hardly get to cycle because the next photo opportunity is waiting around every corner.
Unfortunately, during the great famine in Ireland in 1849, a very tragic chapter in history also unfolded here. 600 starving people were en route from Louisburgh to Delphi, where aid was denied and many perished. A plaque commemorates their fate.
